We know that culture is an important part of engaging employees in organizations and driving business performance.  For many companies, the ultimate aspiration is to create a culture where every employee can do their best work and to do so we not only need to create a diverse workforce and an inclusive environment but also a culture in which employees feel like they belong.  However, effectively shifting culture to this aspirational state with todays diverse workforce, rapidly changing technology and disruptive forces in the business is a bigger challenge than ever.  This working group will explore how culture is impacting the workplace, what CAHRS member companies are doing to keep pace in this environment and what strategies we might employ to foster a culture of inclusion and belonging.

Key topics that the session will cover:
  • What culture are you trying to drive (growth, innovation, etc.)?  How does it reinforce your business strategy?
  • What tools are you using to drive your culture?  What has been successful?  What hasnt?
  • How are companies involving employees in creating culture?
  • How are you thoughtfully making diversity part of the fabric of your culture?
  • How does the changing workforce, work place and environment impact/contribute to the forming or changing of a company culture?  Are there ways to use this as a driving force?
  • What is HRs role in culture transformation and what skills are needed to do it well?

The target audience for this session is senior HR leaders (12+ years experience) who are responsible for driving culture change (i.e. Chief Learning Officers, Heads of Organization Effectiveness or Organizational Development, Directors/VP level for HR Business Partners).

In preparation for the meeting, please spend some time reflecting on your own personal experiences in the above areas. During the meeting, well spend time talking about each of the areas as well as others that are identified through the course of our conversations together.

Also, we welcome your input. If there are other specific issues you would like to discuss, please send them prior to the session to Beth Flynn-Ferry or Jo Hagin.  We and our host, Bloomberg, look forward to seeing you in New York City on March 22, 2018.

This working group will run from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM with continental breakfast at 8:30, session start at 9:00 am and a working lunch.  The session is free of charge to CAHRS partner firms, but participation is limited to no more than twenty-five attendees.
